I. General information

1. What are cookies what information do they collect?
When You visit Our Website, We or an authorized third party may send You a cookie. Cookies are small text files that may be placed on Your device. When a website is accessed, a cookie that is placed on a device will send information to the party that has placed the cookie. Cookies are common and used on a number of websites. Each cookie will typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the "lifetime" of the cookie and usually the IP address or another unique number of the device, and thus may contain personal data, i.e., information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

2. Why are cookies useful?
Cookies allow a website owner to do useful things; for example, a cookie would permit a website owner to find out whether a computer (and probably its user) has visited the site previously. In general, the purpose of cookies is to improve the performance of the website and the user’s experience in using that website. Cookies help to make a website work more efficient, enable extra functionality, and provide website owners with additional information about Your visit to a website. Cookies also allow a website owner to track overall site usage and determine areas that users prefer. Cookies help make the user’s visit to a website easier by recognizing the user upon return and providing a customized experience.

3. First party and third party cookies
Our Website may place first party cookies and allow third parties to place cookies on Your device. The difference between a first party cookie and a third party cookie relates to the control of the party who serves the cookie. First party cookies are cookies that are specific to the website that created them. Their use enables Us to operate an efficient service and to track the patterns of behavior of visitors to the Website. Third party cookies, on the other hand, are placed on Your device by a third party (i.e., not by us). While We may allow third parties to access the Website to place these cookies on users’ devices, We do not retain control over the information supplied by the cookies, nor do We retain access to that data. This information is controlled wholly by that third party in accordance with their respective privacy policy.

4. Web beacons, pixel and plug-ins
We or an authorized third party may have implemented web beacons to our Website. Web beacons are used to check whether a user has accessed some content on our Website.
We or an authorized third party may have implemented pixels to our Website. Pixel are small graphic files in the header of our Website. When you visit our Website, your web browser might automatically download the image, requiring You terminal device to send a request to the our server or the server of the authorized third party, where the source image is stored. This request provides information about the terminal device and thus may provide personal data. Pixels are common and used on a number of websites.
We use so-called functional plugins on our Website. A plug-in is a software component that adds a specific feature to our Website. By using the functional plugins we implement certain feature strictly necessary to operate our Website. Functional plug-ins are common and used on a number of websites. Each functional plug-in will typically process information about who is visiting our Website respectively entering data to our Website.
We use so-called social plugins of social networks on our Website. A plug-in is a software component that adds a specific feature to our Website. By using the plugins of social networks we implement certain network related feature (e.g., Like or Share buttons). To ensure the protection of your data, the plugins are not directly integrated into the page, but we use a mere HTML link (so-called "Shariff solution" from c't). This ensures that when you call up our Website which contains such plugins, there is still no connection with the servers of the provider of the respective social network. When you click on one of the buttons, a new window of your browser opens and calls up the page of the respective social network, on which you can (if necessary after entering your login data), for example, press the Like or Share button.

5. Session and persistent Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our Website may place session and persistent Cookies and Similar Technologies on Your device. The difference between a session and a persistent cookie, web beacon, pixel and plug-in relates to the length of time the cookie, web beacon, pixel and plug-in lasts. Session technologies are Cookies and Similar Technologies that typically last for as long as You are using Your browser, or browser session. When You end Your browser session, the cookie, web beacon, pixel and/or plug-in expires. Persistent Cookies and Similar Technologies, as the name implies, are persistent and will last after You close Your browser. This allows, for example, for quicker and often more convenient access to Our Website.

6. Linking of Cookies and Similar Technologies with other data
Information gathered through usage of a cookie, web beacon, pixel and/or plug-in ("Cookie Data") is not linked to any direct personal identifiers (e.g., Your name or e-mail address), unless You become a customer of CASIO.
