Example/Phrase Search

Depending on the dictionary used, you can enter one or more words to search for example sentences or Phrases.
In this example, we use the Genius English-Japanese Dictionary to search for example sentences with “get” and “to”.

1. Display the EX-word search screen.
2. Select [例文](Example sentence).
   
3. Enter “get to” and select [].
   Enter a space between “get” and “to”.
   
   This displays a list of example sentences with “get” and “to”.
4. Select the example sentence you want to look up.
   
   This displays the description for the selected example sentence.
   
   MEMO
   For information on how to enter characters and searchable character types, see “Inputting Word(s) to Start Searching“.
   With [例文](Example sentence), you can also enter Japanese for the search.
   You can select [見出し語] (Headword) or [成句] (Phrase) when the search results are displayed to switch the search results to the selected content.
   Select [] to hide the list pane, displaying only the description pane.

Changing search conditions

You can change the search conditions.

1. Select [例文](Example sentence) in the EX-word search screen.
   
2. Select an option.
   
3. Select [例文・成句の絞り込み/語順設定](Example sentence/idiom filter/word order settings) to select the search conditions you want to change to.
   

   Search conditions	Details
   入力した語順に関係なく全ての候補を表示(Display all suggested results regardless of the entered word order)	Displays the example sentences containing the entered words.
   入力単語が連続で使われている候補のみ表示(Display only suggested results matching the entered sequence of words)	Displays suggested results containing the entered words in the entered order.
   入力単語が連続で使われている候補のみ表示(Display only suggested results matching the entered sequence of words)	Displays suggested results containing the entered sequence of words.
