Enter the first few letters of a word to search for the word.
In this example, we look up the meaning of “炙り出す(Aburidasu)” with the Meikyo Japanese Dictionary.
- Display the EX-word search screen.
- Select [見出し語] (Headword).
- Enter a word you want to search for as an entry.
This displays a list of the search results similar to the entered word. - Select the word you want to look up from the list of search results.
This displays the description for the selected word.

Depending on the dictionary used, you can select [例文](Example sentence) or [成句] (Phrase) when the search results are displayed to switch the search results to the selected content.
Select [] to hide the list pane, displaying only the description pane.
Searching for a kanji
Depending on the dictionary, you can search for a kanji with its reading or strokes.
- Searching with the reading
- Display the EX-word search screen.
- Select [単漢字を読み/画数から探す](Search a kanji with its reading/strokes).
- Enter the onyomi or kunyomi of a kanji you want to search for and select [この条件で検索](Search with this condition).
This displays a list of the search results. - Select a kanji you want to look up from the list of the search results.
This displays the description for the selected kanji.
- Searching with strokes
- Display the EX-word search screen.
- Select [単漢字を読み/画数から探す](Search a kanji with its reading/strokes).
- Select the total strokes, strokes within the radical, and radical of a kanji you want to search for and select [この条件で検索](Search with this condition).
This displays a list of the search results.
